Square Boucicaut in the 7th Arrondissement, Paris
On our Paris walking tours you'll get to enjoy many of Paris' gardens. Some are large public spaces that attract hundreds of locals and tourists, and others we explore are slightly more hidden and usually only frequented by the residents living nearby. This is the Paris I love to share.
Square Boucicaut is one of the parks we spend time in as it's close to our hotel in the elegant 7th arrondissement. The park was named in honour of Aristide Boucicaut, who was the creator of the first luxury department store in Paris. That's right, Le Bon Marche.

Aristide Boucicaut - The Creator of Le Bon Marché
Le Bon Marché is just opposite Square Boucicaut which is a garden including a children's playground, large trees, insect homes, park benches and a statue. Look out for the cute insect homes and signs about the insects living in them. Because this park is in the elegant and luxurious 7th arrondissement, you'll often see children dressed in the latest designer wear and in the company of their nannies as they all enjoy the different parts of the garden.
The statue in the garden is dedicated to Aristide Boucicaut's wife, Madame Boucicaut, and her friend Baroness Hirsch. Both women The statue was sculpted by artist Paul Moreau-Vauthier in 1914 and is made from white marble.
What You Will Find at Square Boucicaut
The mature trees in this lovely park give dappled shade and the winding paths with flowerbeds on either side easily help you walk from one side of the park to the other and up to the statue. Just outside the park fence on Boulevarde Raspail is a newspaper kiosk with newspapers, magazines, stamps, books, drinks and postcards which is handy. It's right near Metro station Sevres-Babylone so getting to the garden is easy.
The park benches and the newspaper kiosk are painted in the attractive Carriage Green of Paris paint - read Why All Paris Benches, Signs & Fences Are Green
Summer time the park is open till 9pm but in winter it can close as early as 5.30pm.
