Paris In The Hunter: A Lake Macquarie Art Gallery Exhibition
I’m excited to tell you about two great exhibitions coming to Newcastle capturing the ‘enduring appeal of the French capital for artists and audiences alike’ as described by Lake Macquarie Art Gallery.
The first exhibition is Impressions of Paris: Lautrec, Degas, Daumier from the National Gallery of Australia. This exhibition features 90 prints, posters and drawings by three of the best-known French artists during the 1800s.
The second exhibition acknowledges Paris as a destination for artists who over many centuries have found inspiration from this great city. Even today’s artists love Paris and this second exhibition features four local artists: Michael Bell, Lottie Consalvo, James Drinkwater and Claire Martin who share studies, objects, photographs and artworks relating to their residencies at La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
The exhibitions run until Sunday, 13 March 2016.
As a bit of extra fun pose in front of the Paris backdrop and post to Instagram tagging your photo with @ourlakemac #parishunter for a chance to win French Chocolates, morning tea at Awaba House café and an Impressions of Paris catalogue. The best Parisian selfie will be awarded this prize on the last day of the show – Sunday 13 March. So pack your baguette and beret, pose and win!
