Packing for Paris, Nantes & the prettiest tea salon ever - Newsletter #111
Bon weekend to you
What have you been up to over the last week? I’ve been arranging some fresh herb pots, trimming the hydrangea bushes, and generally pottering about before I headed to Paris.
Seeing the stark contrast between country village life and a bustling noisy city is something that I alway enjoy when visiting Paris or other large French cities. Some differences are sharp, while others are much more subtle in how they manifest themselves. Tractors and harvest machinery are no longer the cause of late night rumbles in the dark, it is rather the metro that causes the faint rumbling you can hear in the dead of night.
Instead of dogs barking at cows and rats, it’s the police sirens that break the evening silence. It is however the church bells, that ring out on the hour, that gently remind me that whether in my tiny village or Paris, time is a constant. Comfortably enveloped in the familiar sound of chiming bells, I easily feel safe and at home in Paris. Now I’m off to find new museums to explore, and sit under a shady cafe awning with a cold drink.
