Weekend newsletter #115
Bonjour and bon week-end!
Today is the start of autumn in France with autumnal equinox occurring at 12.44pm, so those of us that love the cooler temps and deep shades of fall, it’s an exciting day! 🍁
What have you been up to over the last week? I’ve been spending a load more time in the kitchen cooking some French recipes with my new copper pots. With the slow change from bright summer colour into more muted shades and, the soon to be, autumnal colour in the countryside, Ratatouille seemed to be the obvious choice to christen my new deep saucepan. I feel the colours of courgettes, zucchini, onions, tomatoes and yellow peppers mixed together are reminiscent of autumn.
Antique copper pots that are unlined are great for decorating but not for cooking. I prefer new copper pots for cooking with their superior conductivity and even base temperature, and you can’t poison yourself! Here’s a couple of photos of our Ratatouille cooking on the stove. I prefer the stovetop method of this dish rather than baking it. Actually, I’ve realised that we don’t have a recipe on the blog, so I’ll try and add one this coming week. How about I share how I cook my stovetop version as well as the tradtional way in the stove? That way you can choose what works best for you.
So now let’s enjoy France together with these trending posts and a brand new post, not yet shared…
