Decorating with Antiques and Vintage Items
If buying antique and vintage items is more your thing then I suggest a visit to Marchés aux Puces de Paris, the largest antique market in the world. Here you will find everything you need from the smallest decor items, silverware, crockery, furniture and even building materials such as recycled gates and window frames.
Should you have a chateau that needs restoring you’ll even be able to buy marble fireplace mantles within the 17 acres of this market. I mean this market literally has everything!
Other regular antique and vintage markets are held all over France selling linen, furniture, books and much more. To find out how to find these markets, when they are on and what they sell, see our essential guide to Finding French Antiques and Vintage Items in France.
Visiting Paris Stores and Markets with A French Collection
On our Classic Paris Tour I take our lovely tour guests to visit the stunning and jewel like department store Galeries Lafayette (as above) with its enormous stained glass roof and the oldest department store in Paris, Le bon Marche (as above). These historical stores are a ‘must see’ when in Paris.
We also take our groups to Marchés aux Puces de Paris where we wander at our leisure, take a refreshing meal within the market precinct and become immersed amongst the antiques and their stories of yesteryear. To find out more on antique and brocante shopping with me on our tours read our Classic Paris Tour brochure or Discover Normandy & Brittany Tour brochure.
