Bonjour mes amis
Birthdays, freezing weather with possible snow in our village, and your 2025 Calendar.
You doesn’t love a birthday? Well, our family is about to celebrate two birthdays only a day apart. My son and husband’s birthdays are in the first week of February and in our usual tradition of celebrating them, we’ll be going on a family cruise up the coast of Australia. Newsletter and blog posts at that time may be a little altered as we spend time together away from work and commitments.
On the subject of birthdays, did you know the 20th of January is the birthday of Édouard Manet (23.01.1832 - 30.04.1882)? Manet is one of the first 19th century artists to paint modern life and we celebrate him with a lovely post about his life, work and some of his famous paintings.
Ready now, after my longer than usual Christmas/New Year break from my office, is your 2025 Calendar. It’s extra lovely, so read our linked post below that reveals what the theme of this year is, and get a ‘beautiful’ first glimpse before it is emailed directly to you all.
There’s also our latest post on French châteaux in case you missed it. Our collection of châteaux are from across the country, all stunning, and diverse. The post is appropriately named ‘Discover Stunning French Châteaux’.
It’s freezing in our French village at the moment (daily top temps under 10°)
and I know that the little sparrows love to find a cosy little spot to keep warm - often making a nest between the slate tiles of my roof and the gutter, and sometimes into the roof cavity. I think however I’ve come up with a much more decorative and less destructive idea for them. I’ve just purchased the sweetest little birdhouse and erected it on one of my trees at our Lake House and think a few of these will be perfect for the sparrows in France. They can be attached to our garage or on our fence I’m thinking. Do you encourage birds and bees into your garden? I don’t feed any wild birds but love providing fresh water and native bushes for them all.
Now, check out the Calendar, be inspired by Manet’s paintings and I’ll chat again next week…
