Welcome to A French Collection, I’m so glad you’ve joined us.
I’m Annette, the editor and primary writer and I welcome you to our French community. Let me tell you a bit about myself and my family…
Newcastle, NSW in Australia is my home town and I’m passionate about France, all things French, travelling and writing. My awesome three kids and husband accept I’m an incorrigible Francophile and just join in the French fun!
Being true Francophiles and loving all things French, in 2009 we made our dream come true and bought a family holiday home in a farming village deep in Brittany. Everyone we told thought we were crazy as I had never even visited France at this stage, but I just knew I would love living there so we looked at properties on the internet, researched and then bought flights to France to go check out the properties. We took one of our children with us and after a week had purchased our holiday home. This is the short version of it all but if you want more details read our article It Has To Be France.
Since then, we have returned to spend school holidays in France, getting to know our rich and colourful neighbours, our local region and beyond. We often visit Paris, and I think there will always be more to explore in this amazing city than we will ever be able to do.
Our children have experienced such a different culture living part time in France over the last 13 years, and somehow we have made living and working between our homes in Australia and France work well for us. Our life, and the things we’ve experienced are shared on A French Collection together with articles by guest writers who live, work, travel and love France also.
Recently I moved to France on a more permanent basis after I quit my job working with an international law firm. Now, you’ll probably find me walking in the countryside, writing or scouring a brocante for another little treasure to call my own and bring home.
