Wall of love, Jehan Rictus garden square in Montmartre, Paris
Wall of Love, Paris
The Wall of Love (le mur des je t’aime) in the Jehan Rictus garden in Square Jehan Rictus is located in one of the coolest areas in Paris – Montmartre. Self-proclaimed as a “meeting place for lovers of love”, this impressive work of art features the phrase, “I love you” 311 times in 250 languages and is the perfect place for a lovers photo shoot.
Pack your lunch and enjoy time together in Square Jehan Rictus, which is conveniently right next to the Abesses metro station.
Shout It From The Rooftops
Every year the Paris City Council selects 100 love messages to publish on over 170 electronic billboards in Paris from 6am- midnight on February 14th.
Get creative and send your loved one a message for all to see.
Why not shout your love from the rooftops!
Float Along The Seine On Valentine’s Day
Floating gently along the Seine enjoying the sights of the City of Love with your loved one is our top idea number 3.
Whether you enjoy a sunny day or the light just peeps out of rain clouds, a cruise down the Seine is always a good idea. Even better, see if you can book an evening cruise to declare your love to one another over a glass of champagne under the stars.
Let Your Heart Go On The Eiffel Tower
Love and the Eiffel Tower go hand in hand. Make your declaration of love high in the clouds from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Make some small heart shaped cut outs from red paper and write your name and your sweethearts’ name on them, then climb or ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower and let the breeze catch your hearts and watch them float away.
Make sure your hearts are small and only made of paper though, so they don’t cause any injury to people below.
Lock Your Love In On Valentine’s Day
A love lock or love padlock is a padlock which lovers lock to a public fixture, often a bridge, fence or gate, to publicly declare their love.
In Paris, the Post des Arts was a popular bridge for lovers to ‘tie’ their love by fastening a padlock on the bridge’s metal railings before throwing the key into the Seine. However, with so many tourists doing this over the years, part of the railings collapsed under the weight. So Paris’ city officials removed around one million locks weighing an estimated 45 tonnes and relocated many of them to Square du Vert-Galant.
Now, due to the damage caused by these weighty locks to their ancient and delicate structures, tourists and locals are asked to take their photo in front of the relocated love locks, but not add their own.
Declare your love this Valentine’s Day by having your photo taken in front of the relocated love locks at Square du Vert-Galant, Paris.
